So lets look at the basics of being an Warrior, the following is a break down of the class and how it generally works. Also you will notice that builds from another sections of the forums will be placed here. This is to ensure that class specific builds are easier to find and that only commander builds can be found over on that section.

So you will be hard pressed to find an MMORPG or even a RPG that doesn't have a warrior Archetype, this class or profession is something that is based off real world type professions. This is alaso one of the few that you will find in all cultures regardless of where in the world you look. So what does that mean for Guild wars 2? it has a lot of meaning; depending on who you ask it either means that they always get the special treatment and or they always get left behind. In my opinion it is a mixture of both. They either get hyper buffed and then nerfed, or just left alone. This has been a core profession since Day of one the franchise, who was brought to life by Devonna in Prophecies.

This particular profession has access to the largest set of weapons in the Guild wars 2 game, they shin in the mist of Melee combat; with an aptitude for range combat. They are one of two profession that Boost the power of their group and allies, taking on the role of the Paragon Profession from the Night Fall Campaign in the original Guild wars.

This Profession is for the players that like to risk it all, playing this class is a subtle balance of risk versus reward. In guild wars 2 melee is a brutal position to take up, it is very unforgiving and takes a lot of know how to play this class. If you're looking for a laid back play style the warrior is defiantly not for you.

As a new player you should probally know about the bread and butter of this class which are Boons and how they affect your self and others.

Boon: This is an affect that provides a positive buff to you and or your party and or both. Boons can be stacked in effect like Might and stability while others stack in their duration like protection and Fury.
    • Might: Increases out going damage || Stacks Effect || Max 25
    • Agies: Blacks the next incoming attack || Stacks Duration
    • Fury: Increases Critical Chance by 20% || Stacks Duration
    • *Protection: reduces direct incoming damage by 33% || Stacks Duration
    • Quickness: Increase Actions and Skills by 50% || Does not stack
    • Regeneration: Applies a Heal over time (HoT) that ticks every second || Stacks duration
    • Resistance: Makes Current conditions debuffs Null || Stacks Duration
    • **Retaliation: Reflects incoming damage back to it's source || Stacks Duration
    • Stability: Makes you immune to Hard CC Such as lose of control of your character, and immobilizing effects. If you are to lose movement and or control of your character that would be a hard CC || Stacks Effect [stacks are used as they are used to ignore said effect]
    • Swiftness: Movement speed increased by 33% || Stacks in duration
    • Vigor: Increases endurance regeneration by 50% || stacks in duration
    * This will not protect against Condition damage that is flat damage, just direct damage
** This will reflect damage done by conditions, flat damage, direct damage.

So now lets move onto Adrenaline, the other Bread and butter part of the warrior. This mechanic is what makes the warrior so dangerous, it provides a focused burst when the warrior needs it. Now understand as you change your Professions specialization the Adrenaline skill will change in how it works to the type of burst it gives. You can only generate adrenaline while you fight in combat. There are a lot of traits that are directly related to boosting this mechanic.

Piror to Path of Fire (PoF) expansion the warrior had access to 3 unique abilities which are
    • Banners
    • Stances ( which are shared with Weavers in PoF )
    • Rage (Heart of Thorns only )
    Banners:
When you use banner skills you create a environmental weapon that other players can use, they also create an Area of Effect (AoE) when planted. Depending on the banner it's passive effects can give allies Toughness, stability, power and even resurrect (Res) Allies from defeated. Each banner has a particular set of skills when you grab them, which anyone can pick them up once they have been placed. This allows players to carry said banners to the fight when the fight is over and moving to the next one or the fights shifts away.
    • Banner of Defense
    • Banner of Discipline
    • Banner of Strength
    • Banner of Tactics
    • Battle Standard
    Stance:
There are 5 stances that will grant temporary benefits to the warrior to help them over come odds that are greatly against them.
    • Defiance stance - heal skill that blocks incoming attacks when used
    • Balanced stance - grants stability and swiftness and breaks CC
    • Beserker stancs - grants Adrenaline and cleanses conditions
    • Enduring pain - stops all direct damage
    • Frenzy - gives quickness and might
    Rage:
These are linked to the Beserker specialization. there are Five rage utility skills available to the warrior. They all do direct damage and grant bonuses when they are used. Beserker is a function ability that modifies your adrenaline abilities connected to your Function 1. It changes the text to a primal burst skill instead.
    • Blood reckoning - heal
    • Outrage - stun break
    • Shattering blow - frontal attack that applies bleed, grants boons, and blocks projectiles
    • Wild blow - is a leap that knocks foes down in your path
    • Head butt - is a hard crowd control stun
    Weapons:
There are 19 terrestrial based weapon sets and 2 aquatic. I will also give Adrenaline and Primal with them. when playing a warrior I recommend to be a good player you rebind your weapon swap key to something that is easy to use and comfortable to you. You can use the Fast hands trait for faster Cool Down (CD) on weapon swap ability.

    Two-Handed
    • Great sword: Burst
Arcing Slice grants fury and deals more damage to lower health targets
Primal: Arc divider Adds a shock-wave to the effect
    • Hammer: One of the best Defiance Bar; or Break Bar weapons
Burst- Earth shaker is a targeted Leap that also stuns
Primal - Rupturing Smash is again a targeted leap skill instead of stunning it creates a shock-wave in front of you that immobilizes your targets
    • Long Bow: Condition damage
Burst: Combustion Shot is a targeted AoE skill that applies 2 stacks of burn on up to 5 players.
Primal: Scorched earth creates a path in front of you which applies Direct damage and 3 stacks of burn up to 5 targets.
    • Rifle: Warrior is one of 2 classes that can use the weapon and has fallen out of the meta for warriors, With PoF coming on 22 Sept 2017 the Thief will join the Engineer and Warrior in having the ability to use the rifle.
Burst - Kill shot is a High Direct Damage ability that is single target and has the longest range in the game thus far till PoF
Primal - Gun Flame it acts as an interrupt, Dazes up to 3 targets, and applies 3 stacks of Burning to one target.

    Main-Hand
    • Axe: Quick Adrenaline generation and great for Power based builds such as Phalx Strength builds
Burst - Eviscerate is a minor leap to a single target that also Immobilizes the target
Primal - Decapitate is also a leap that with additional shock-wave that can affect up to 5 targets with Direct damage
    • Mace: is a favorite for SPvP builds due to its Hard CC
Burst - Skull Crack stuns 1 target
Primal - Skull Grinder no longer stuns but dazes and applies 4 conditions
    • Sword: Condition Build weapon
Burst - Flurry is a cleave attack hitting up to 3 targets and applies 2 conditions one of which is Immobilize that varies in application time that is affected by what level of Burst you used
Primal - Flaming Flurry is an AoE attack that can hit 5 targets destroys projectiles and can be used while moving.

    Off-Hand
    • Axe
    • Mace
    • Sword
    • Shield
    • Warhorn
    • Torch (Heart of Thorns)
    Aquatic Weapons
    • Harpoon Gun
    • Spear

    Downed Skill:
The warrior has one of the unique and only available to warrior skills that produce this certain affect.
Vengeance: Rally to fight for 15 seconds, YOU MUST kill an Enemy before the time elapses or you will be defeated . As a note Neutral Mobs do not satisfy the requirement of this skill.

    Specializations:
    • Berserker
"With Heart of Thorns, warriors can now become berserkers capable of channeling their adrenaline to enter a berserk mode. While enraged, they gain access to new primal burst skills, replacing standard burst skills with new enhanced abilities. Further complementing the berserker’s new mode are rage skills, which offer new ways to gain adrenaline, ensuring that flying into a frenzy is never far away."
Berserker focuses on adrenaline and adds a new berserk mode that gives access to primal bursts. It also allows the warrior to use an offhand torch.
    • Spellbreaker
"The broken weapons of the Sunspears have become daggers in the hands of their descendants, which they use to strike at the very fabric of magic and strip it from their foes. They meditate to see past their enemies' defenses, and they use their adrenaline to counter attacks."
Spellbreaker focuses on meditation skills and enables the Full Counter skill. It also allows the warrior to wield a dagger in.

    Damage types:
    Direct Damage:
Usually from weapons and any source that is a one time hit, all damage dealt is negated from the total amount

    Condition Damage:
Often has the term Flat damage as the conditions will do a flat standard damage than adds modifiers, when calculating how much damage is negated you first negate the flat then the buffed damage is applied.

    Falling Damage:
Comes from falling and is calculated by the distance in which you fall.

    Berserker: The Flame cometh
    [IMG]
This spec is not for the New player, infact I highly suggest this for the advance player only. As a commander the worst thing I see is people using Berserker gear and dying in 2 seconds to siege and fights. Although there are good players that can offer a good amount of damage and stay alive. When a player pulls this off right they become a force on the field like no other. this was designed for WvW but can fit into other ares of the game.

This is a standard build I got from someone that was in SPvP. This seems to be a normal build for most warriors, After messing with it I find it amusing. with a good amount of survivability to a lot of solid 1v1 domination potential this is a good starting point for most people just starting in SPvP.

This is a build that requires finesse and knowledge of the warrior profession.
